Determining the Safe Distance for Mining Equipment Operation When Forming an Internal Dump in a Deep Open Pit

In the surface mining of mineral deposits, land resources suitable for agricultural purposes are inappropriately spent in large volumes. When deep open pits, overburden rocks mainly transported to surface. The optimal solution reducing area disturbed lands is placement internal dumps pit. This especially when a deposit with several pits where at least one them depleted. Therefore, it important assess feasibility building an dump, based on stability parameters its slopes and safe distance placing equipment within boundaries, which was focus this research. Numerical modeling Slide 5.0 software used determine dump slope inside pit from upper edge equipment. reflected geomechanical situation occurring boundaries formed open-pit field high degree reliability. It determined that maximum standard safety factor values limits border hard bedrock (Ks.s.f ≥ 1.2). Under condition bordered sedimentations represented by clays, loams, sands strength 2–3 Mohs scale, decreased 22%. minimum outer contour dragline base single-tier 15.5 m 1.21. range 73.5–93 were concentrated sections 5–9, 1.18 1.28. located section 7, construction works should be conducted only if exist up 3 years. Based identified parameters, example using ESH-11/70 walking dragline, technological scheme operation developed allocation forming dump. results obtained useful development projects reclamation depleted pits.
